Joint Entrance Exam 2019
The National Testing Agency (NTA) shall be the governing body for all-India entrance exams to improve equity and quality in education by administering research based valid, reliable, efficient, transparent, fair and international level assessments. The NTA has released the schedule of dates for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) 2019. The JEE 2019 will be held twice - in January and in April 2019 in online mode. Students can thus attempt the exam twice; the best score shall be considered for ranking purpose.
JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
Eligibility Criteria :
Age Limit - There is no age limit.
Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE) -
- Candidates must have passed their XII exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2017 or 2018.
- Those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019 are also eligible to appear NTA JEE Main.
- Candidates studying from National Open School are also eligible.
Number of Attempts - Candidates will be allowed two attempts per year – once in January and the second time in April when the exams will be held.
Who are not eligible for NTA JEE Main 2019?
- Diploma candidates are not eligible for admissions to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs but can appear for NTA JEE Main 2019 to go on to appear for JEE Advanced 2019 if they qualify.
- Candidates who have passed their 10+2 in 2016 or before are not eligible.
- Candidates who have appeared in their class 12 or equivalent in 2016 but failed and have again appeared in 2017 are also not eligible for NTA JEE Main 2019
- Candidates who have less than 5 subjects in their class 12 or equivalent are also not eligible.

Type of Examination :
JEE (Main)–2019 shall have two papers, Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.) and Paper-2 (B. Arch. /B.Planning). Candidates may take Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.), or Paper-2 (B. Arch. /B.Planning.), or both as per the course(s) they are seeking admission to. Subject combinations for each paper, type of questions in each paper and mode of examination is given in the table below:
